Worthy of this world?

Worthy of this world?

Hebrews 11:38

Scripture: “the world was not worthy of them.”

Observation: We spend so much time and effort trying to be “worthy” of the world. We try to make something of ourselves, to leave our mark on this world and to “be something”. We go to university to make more of ourselves, we strive for that better vocation as to give credence to our value in this world.

Application: Hebrews 11 is the “Faith Hall of Fame” chapter. Some of the greatest men and women in history are mentioned here because of their unyielding faith and obedience to God. Yet, Hebrews 11:38 said that “the world was not worthy of them.” Here is the irony, we try so hard to live a life worthy of the world, to be recognized by the world, when we are called to something so much greater to live in such a way to be worthy of heaven. To live a life that the world is not worthy of. Why do we set our sights so low, set our standards to this world. Our standard is heaven, our example is Christ and the men and women mentioned here. A life that is spent to be worthy of this world is a life that is wasted

Prayer: Lord, I don’t want to waste my life trying to make something of myself in this world. I want to spend my life making much of you while I’m still in this world. Forgive me for pursuing a lesser glory in this World. Forgive me for not always putting you first. Help me to live for you by giving more of your Spirit to live boldly and unashamed for your Glory.
